This page is a living record of the many productions I’ve been fortunate to work on over the years — part CV, part memory bank. I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with incredible production companies including the BBC, Wildspace Productions, Big Wave Productions, Plimsoll Productions, Silverback Productions, and Offspring Films, among others. Working alongside researchers, story developers, and filmmakers who share a fascination for wildlife storytelling has been one of the greatest joys of my career.
Each video here represents a moment in time: collaborations with brilliant teams, adventures at sea, and the endless pursuit of capturing the ocean’s magic. From natural history documentaries to conservation stories, every project has shared one goal — revealing the beauty and complexity of the underwater world.
Have a scroll, explore the trailers, and dive into this archive of work. If you’d like to connect, collaborate, or simply talk about ideas for filming wildlife in the field, I’m always happy to chat. Thanks for visiting — I hope you enjoy the films, and maybe we’ll work together on the next great story

Through my company, Animal Ocean Expeditions, we provide full logistical and field support for marine film productions. Our two 8-metre RIBs are fully equipped for filming at sea, and our team includes commercial dive supervisors, divers, and safety crew with extensive field experience. I’m a certified rebreather diver with over 100 hours underwater, trained in nitrox and scuba, and an accomplished freediver.
We handle all permits and coordination with government and marine authorities, and manage insurance and administrative requirements to keep productions compliant and efficient.
We also have access to a wide range of professional camera systems — from RED digital cinema cameras to Sony models with Nauticam housings — ensuring we can meet most underwater and topside filming needs.
In addition, our extensive South African footage archive offers rare and high-quality visuals of Cape Town’s marine life and seascapes, often used to enhance story development or supplement final edits.
All of this makes Animal Ocean Expeditions a reliable and creative partner for any ocean-based production — from pre-production logistics to field execution and post-production support. We love helping bring ocean stories to life.
Netflix: Our Oceans
For Netflix’s Our Oceans series, I collaborated closely with Roger Horrocks across several major sequences. I conceptualized and filmed the Steentjie nesting sequence, documenting intricate fish behaviors while developing the storyline, capturing underwater time-lapses, and overseeing logistics, permitting, and support diving. My additional footage helped enrich the final sequence.
I also conceived the “wave vortices” concept and led logistics, field coordination, and safety diving for that shoot alongside Roger Horrocks and Sasha Specker.
During the Sardine Run sequence with cameraman Grant Brokensha, I provided local expertise, managed permitting, logistics, and ensured in-water safety for the crew.
Beyond filming, I contributed to the early creative development of the series, helping shape visual narratives and story concepts. Our Oceans stands as one of my most extensive contributions — both behind the camera and in creative direction — to a major natural history production.
Our Planet — Netflix
For Our Planet, I was logistics coordinator on the High Seas episode, supporting the humpback whale super-group feeding sequence. I also contributed additional underwater footage from my own stock library and worked as a safety diver and boat operator in the field.
BBC: Blue Planet II
For BBC’s Blue Planet II with David Attenborough, I managed logistics, permitting, and field production for the opening sequence of episode one — featuring surfing dolphins filmed by Chris Bryan on the Phantom camera. I also provided on-the-ground support for Ted Giffords’ Cineflex filming, helping the team capture breathtaking slow-motion visuals of dolphins surfing along South Africa’s Wild Coast.
Disney: Dolphin Reef
For Disney’s Dolphin Reef, I provided local expertise for the surfing dolphin sequence, coordinating multiple boats and jet skis with operators Roger Horrocks and Jamie McPherson. Our team ventured offshore along South Africa’s Wild Coast to capture rare and dynamic footage of dolphins riding waves, delivering unforgettable visuals for this acclaimed Disneynature production.
Netflix: Animals
For Netflix’s Animals documentary series, I worked on the South African episode featuring the chokka squid. My role included overseeing logistics, safety diving, and providing on-the-ground expertise to support the production. Working with cameraman Roger Horrocks, we captured the extraordinary spawning spectacle of thousands of squid — an elusive and fleeting event rarely seen beneath the waves.
BBC: Oceans
For Oceans with David Attenborough, I contributed stock footage of South Africa’s kelp forests, enriching the film with vivid imagery from our coastline. It was a small but meaningful contribution to a production that deeply resonated with me.
PBS Nature — Ocean’s Greatest Feast
For Ocean’s Greatest Feast, a PBS Nature production, I served as underwater cameraman and logistics manager across two sardine run seasons. My work included filming baitballs, bronze whaler sharks, fur seals, and surfing dolphins — capturing the dynamic chaos of one of the ocean’s greatest events.
Saving Seals
Saving Seals is a film I produced, filmed, and helped edit, working closely with director and editor Brian Little. This passion project tells the story of Claire Taylor and her remarkable work disentangling Cape fur seals at the Two Oceans Aquarium, shining a light on the human dedication behind marine rescue efforts.
Deep Connections
For Deep Connections, my stock archive footage was used to reveal the beauty and complexity of the South African coastline. The images were born from countless hours spent at sea — being in the right place at the right time — capturing scenes that few people ever witness firsthand.
Mzanzi — Celebrating South Africa’s Marine Protected Areas
To bring this nationwide celebration of South Africa’s Marine Protected Areas to life, I contributed a large collection of stock footage gathered throughout the country. These sequences filled narrative gaps with vivid images and moments that could only be captured over years of filming along our coasts.
The Deep Blue Middle Sea
As a cameraman on The Deep Blue Middle Sea, I helped conceptualize and film underwater scenes, including the haunting shipwreck and statue sequences. I also worked topside to capture the film’s aesthetic continuity across land and sea.
Tracking Silver Ghosts
I co-produced and filmed Tracking Silver Ghosts, which explores the behavior and conservation of Dusky kob along South Africa’s coast. My role focused on field cinematography and production support, helping translate complex research into visual storytelling.
Tracking Sharks
Tracking Sharks was a science-communication film I produced, filmed, and edited — a passion project highlighting shark tagging and research. The film also includes additional footage by Ryan Daly and others, showing collaboration between filmmakers and scientists in the field.
United Nations COP27 — Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt
At COP27, I worked for The Ocean Agency as an underwater cameraman, capturing underwater sequences of Ellie Goulding and general ocean scenes for the United Nations’ global climate messaging.
Lewis Pugh — United Nations & World Ocean Day
I worked as underwater cinematographer and director of photography for Lewis Pugh’s UN and World Ocean Day campaigns, filming his Egypt expedition and documenting his remarkable swim across the Red Sea to raise awareness for marine protection.
